Solar for Peace Project” Enhances Education in Imvepi Settlement

The “Solar for Peace Project” is making a significant impact on education within the Imvepi Settlement by providing schools with essential technological upgrades. The project aims to enhance digital literacy and improve the learning environment through solar energy and modern computer labs.

At Twajiji Hope Primary School, JPIIJPC constructed a 7×6.6m computer lab, fully equipped with 20 computers, computer desks, 23 chairs, an air conditioner, two fans, and a whiteboard. The lab is powered by a 5KW solar energy system, ensuring a sustainable and reliable power source for the students. The lab was officially launched on April 8th by the Bishop of Arua, marking a significant milestone for the school.

Similarly, Yangani Secondary School also benefited from the project with a newly constructed 7×6.6m computer lab, installed with 7.5KW of solar energy. This lab, like the one at Twajiji Hope Primary, is furnished with computer desks, 23 chairs, 20 computers, and an air conditioner to create a comfortable and modern learning environment.

Construction of a new computer lab at Kado Primary School is currently underway, with plans to finish by the end of the year. Once completed, the lab will further enhance educational opportunities for students in the settlement.

The installation of solar-powered computer labs has not only improved digital literacy but has also provided better lighting for evening studies, allowing students to continue their education beyond daylight hours. The “Solar for Peace Project” is playing a crucial role in transforming education in Imvepi Settlement, offering hope and opportunity for a brighter future.
